Prayer Strategy for Identity

Here LORD I raise my Ebenezer, (1 Sam. 7:12) my stone of help to remember who I am and Whose I am.

Who am I?

Inspired by Priscilla Shirer’s book “Fervent”

I am a child of God. (John 1:12-13) Daughter of the Most High King. (2 Cor. 6:18, Ps. 45) God’s very own possession. (1 Pet. 2:9, Duet. 4:20) Precious in His sight. (Isa. 43:4) Beloved by the Father. (Isa. 43:4, 2 Thess. 2:16, John 3:16) Clothed with the garments of salvation and the robe of righteousness, adorned as a royal bride whom He has made exceedingly beautiful. (Isa. 61:10, Ezek. 16:10-13) Made in the very image of God, I have inherent value and He delights in me. (Gen. 1:27, Ps. 18:19, Zeph. 3:17) I am worthy simply because I am His. (1 Cor. 7:23, 1 Pet. 1:18-19)

I am a child of God. (1 John 3:1) Fully seen and fully known. (Ps. 139) I am loved, accepted, redeemed, sealed, and seated; for I am united with Christ. No longer dead but forgiven and made alive. (Eph. 1 & 2) I am fully equipped with the armor of God. (Eph. 5:8-9, 6:10-18) And it is Christ Himself who keeps me from stumbling and makes me to stand, to present me faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. (Jude 24-25) I am made on purpose and for a purpose, for I am God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to walk in the good works He prepared in advance for me to do. (Eph. 2:10)

I am a child of God. (Gal. 3:26, 4:7) I am a warrior in the Lord’s army. (2 Tim. 2:3-4) I find my strength by fixing my eyes on Jehovah-nissi, the Lord my Banner. (Ex. 17:15, Heb. 12:1-3, 3:1, Col. 3:2, Prov. 4:25) He is the One who counted me faithful. He is the One who enlisted me. (1 Tim. 1:12) I will not be entangled by the affairs of this world. (2 Tim. 2:4) Rather, I will delight myself in the light of God’s love towards me! (Ps. 1:2-3) I am more than victorious in this for His Holy Spirit lives inside of me! (Rom. 8:11, 8:37, 2 Cor. 1:22)

                    Amen & Hallelujah!!

Praying Scripture – From Hope to Reality

Psalm 119:9-16

“How can a young man cleanse his way?
By taking heed according to Your word.
With my whole heart I have sought You;
Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!
Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.
Blessed are You, O Lord!
Teach me Your statutes.
With my lips I have declared
All the judgments of Your mouth.
I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies,
As much as in all riches.
I will meditate on Your precepts,
And contemplate Your ways.
I will delight myself in Your statutes;
I will not forget Your word.”

This was the first passage of scripture that I prayed over myself. At the time, not a shred of it was true of me or my life. I was a prodigal returned with a shattered heart and nowhere safe to put that heart except in the Father’s hands. I was in the process of learning who God really was, how to seek Him first, and what it meant to live out my faith.

I attended Bible Studies for the first time in my life. I heard about the power of praying scripture. This passage, Psalm 119:9-16, jumped out at me and I decided to try it. I desperately needed what this passage promised…a way to cleanse my ways. I prayed this over my life regularly and often and with my whole heart.

Now I can testify that God is faithful and true! Over a period of seven years filled with trials and tribulation, God answered my prayer. God Almighty made every bit of this scripture passage true in me and in my life. I thank the LORD for this beautiful work.

I took heed according to His word and He cleansed me. I seek Him now with my whole heart and He does not let me wander from His commandments. I hide His word in my heart, and He helps me not to sin against Him. Though I fail often, I regularly confess, and He is so good to faithfully forgive me.

I bless the Lord above all things, and He teaches me His statutes. With my lips I now declare the judgements of His mouth, and God gives me the opportunities to do so. He has emboldened me to speak by the Holy Spirit. I now rejoice in the way of His testimonies as much as in all riches. God provides and takes care of me. I now meditate on His precepts and contemplate His ways. I delight myself in His statutes and with God’s help, I will not forget His word.

As I write this, it has now been ten years since God started this work in my life. He has been faithful to complete the good work He started. I have learned that praying scripture is indeed powerful and have prayed many scriptures over my life, my kid’s lives, and over others. I have seen God’s faithful hand at work.

I encourage you to open His Word and feast on it…live and breathe it. Let His living, active, and powerful Word work in your life and heart.

Do you want to see a change? Pray Scripture over your life. Do not give up. God is faithful and true and moves with power.

Praying the Belt of Truth

LORD,

Your Word is a lamp unto my feet. Expose everything to the Light of Your Truth. Help me discern between right and almost right. Open my ears to hear Your directions and enable me to walk in them. Align my life with Your Truth, O GOD, and tune my life to Your absolute standard. Strengthen my spiritual and physical core. Let the TRUTH bear the weight of life and set us free!

Amen

Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path.”

Prayer: KNOWN

“Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me and know my
anxious thoughts;

And see if there be any hurtful way in me,
And lead me in the everlasting way.”

Psalm 139:23-24 NASB

         Wow God, You know me; inside and out You know me. You see me, through and through. Before You I am laid bare. Before You I am naked, and thanks be to the blood of Christ, I am naked AND unashamed. All of me is Yours. Cleanse me of  Continue reading “Prayer: KNOWN”

Prayer: Help My Unbelief

           Lord, there is nothing better than You. Thank you for putting me back together and making me whole. Help me to walk peaceably with others as much as it depends on me. (Romans 12: 18) God, I am struggling in this moment; so, I cry out to You, my refuge and my strength. This moment feels like defeat and it’s hard to see hope ahead; so, I thank You that the promise of Your word is that You will complete the good work that You started. (Philippians 1:6) “Help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24) Thank You for the work You have done; remind me of Your faithfulness. Thank You for the work You are currently doing; give me eyes to see. Thank You for the work You will do; grant me faith to believe. I am begging you to show me the faithfulness of Your promise. I cling to the truth that “The Lord your God, who goes before you, He will fight for you.” (Deuteronomy 1:30) Lord, You go before me and fight for me. Help me by the power of the Holy Spirit to ‘hold my peace,’ for “The Lord will fight for” me. (Exodus 14:14) Continue reading “Prayer: Help My Unbelief”

“When the waves of death surrounded me,
The floods of ungodliness made me afraid.
The sorrows of Sheol surrounded me;
The snares of death confronted me.
In my distress I called upon the Lord,
And cried out to my God;
He heard my voice from His temple,
And my cry entered His ears.”
2 Samuel 22:5-7

Prayer: The LORD Hears My Cry of Distress

         Lord, it feels like waves of death are surrounding me: physical pain, emotional turmoil, mental stress, chaos, helping kids navigate distance learning, trying to do full time work from home, taking care of the house, witnessing to a neighbor, navigating COVID (“waves of death surround”), lack of time and apparent ability, I am not managing us well in the time such as this. Help Lord!

         Lord, I am in distress, so I call upon You, LORD my GOD, Maker of Heaven and Earth. I cry out to You, Christ Jesus Who won the war. My GOD, You hear my voice from Your holy temple. My cry enters Your ears. In You I put my trust!

Prayer: THIS is my Daddy

“Then the earth shook and trembled;
The foundations of heaven quaked and were shaken,
Because He was angry.
Smoke went up from His nostrils,
And devouring fire from His mouth;
Coals were kindled by it.
He bowed the heavens also, and came down

With darkness under His feet.
He rode upon a cherub, and flew;
And He was seen upon the wings of the wind.
He made darkness canopies around Him,
Dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

Prayer of Obedience

“So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at your word I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. … So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him.”

(Luke 5:1-7, 11 NKJV, emphasis mine)
